If you’re a populair or liked or exciting fighter. Then the UFC will pay for your treatment if you’re very ill.

@ 1:30-1:33 in the video. my friend jenna castillo smashing her opponant! bad ass female amateur muay thai fighter here in the bay area.. i remember i was supposed to fight a guy from chico on that card but he pulled out.

theres a reason i like being an amateur fighter. if i get hurt in the fight, promoter’s insurance covers me.

train hard, but train smart too!!

im anxious to see how this documentary is, im curious and excited :)

I got paid 80 dollars for my first pro fight, if I had lost only would have gotten half that.

Shields, Diaz, Melendez, Big Bad John and a lot of other fighters, trainers, cut men etc.
Lucky for us James Feng is a movie maker with experience and a big time fan of MMA.

He asked Jake Shields for help, Jake gave him access to his life home/gym/fights and called friends and asked them to open up and help Feng get a real inside look at MMA.
He spent well over a year filming before he started editing, gonna be good.

Some fighters get paid as little as $200 per fight. Maybe even less.

The fighters don’t complain about it since it’s always been that way; for them it’s a fact of life and something they have to deal with. They love what they do and accept the realities of being a fighter.

PRIDE is no longer in business. UFC and other organizations don’t pay for fighters’ insurance, the only insurance they pay is if fighters get injured during the fights that are run by the promotions. If the fighters get injured during training/sparring, it is their own insurance(if they have any) that covers it. If the fighters don’t have insurance, then they are screwed and are stuck with a huge medical bill should they injury themselves severely.

Unfortunately, fighters do not get paid once a month, they only get paid when they successful participate in a fight by stepping into the cage. Which means if they pull out of fights due to last minute injuries, they will not get any pay from the organizations.

Excited to see this film. Finally a real look into mma, not like those fake Hollywood movies that only show the “attractive” and “desirable” aspects of the sport. Can’t wait for this to come out. Let us know how we can help get the word out about your film. Impressive that you have the support of great fighters, too. Congratulations.

We are aiming for a tentative May 2010 release. We’re spending a lot of time in editing the film to make sure it’s the best MMA film out there that we can all be proud of; something that’s worthy for you guys to enjoy and really know the truth about MMA.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of money and we’re doing our best to finish this project. Thanks for all of your support!
